If you are fresh out of the maternity ward with your new born baby then you must know that there is a lot of work coming your way and you have to be well prepared to deal with it all. Taking care of a baby is no easy task and must be done with the uttermost meticulousness. The comfort of the baby should be a high priority and this means that you should be regularly feeding it and changing its diapers.

With all the work that comes with taking care of a new born baby, you can be sure that you will not be getting the regular amount of sleep that you have been previously accustomed to. Sometimes this can lead to some new parents becoming anxious and even depressed. Go through some of these tips that will help to make sure that you take care of your baby properly without burning out.

The top priority once you get your baby home is feeding. You will have to decide between the two options of bottle feeding or the natural breast feeding. If you decide to go with the latter then you should be aware that it will require you be very patient.

Before even leaving the maternity you should have been told by the doctor what is the best way to hold the baby when breastfeeding. You will want to make sure that you create a regular routine when it comes to feeding the baby so settle on every 3 hours.

Even while using a bottle you will still have to know which the safest way to hold the baby is. Holding the baby will not only make sure that they do not choke on the milk but a parental bond will also be created between the two of you.

The next issue comes in when bathing the baby and cleaning them all up. Before you begin the process of bathing the first thing you should do is shut all the windows bringing in the cold air so that the kid does not freeze.

Make sure that all the items you need for the bathing process are at arm’s length before you begin bathing the baby so that you do not leave the baby alone while you go off looking for a towel for example.

The water temperature must be just right for the baby and the best way to check for this would be with your elbow. One important thing to note is that the umbilical cord should be undisturbed and dry until it is fully healed. Do not make the mistake of wrapping the diaper around it.
