It is so much fun to teach babies because they are so eager to learn new things. They love to mimic the behavior they see and they are easily excited. If parents capitalize on these qualities, they can teach their babies all sorts of things. With a good puzzle and a few minutes a day, babies can easily learn geography, whether world or U.S. geography.

When parents are looking for toys for their babies, they should keep in mind that it is just as much fun for a baby to build a puzzle of the United States as it is to build a puzzle of a kitty cat. It may actually be more fun for baby to build the map puzzles, because they are more challenging. Babies love a challenge and they love to prove that they can learn anything.

Parents can also teach geography using a map. They sell place mats that are maps of different places. If you use a place mat, just point out different locations at each meal to your baby.

In no time, your child will know what is where. How much better it is to let your child practice their manual dexterity of pointing and putting pieces together while learning things that will have lasting value for them, as opposed to just putting together a pretty picture.

Certainly there is benefit in playing with toys, but parents have the opportunity to expose their children to much more educational materials and still call it play. There are songs that teach geography as well. Many even include a map of the areas being taught. It is simple to teach your child some geography with some upbeat music while you point out the areas.

Teaching your baby world geography will help them understand that the world is a much larger place than they think it is.

During high school when your child needs to know these skills and learned them with ease as a baby, they will be thinking you.

If you go to You Tube and type in Smarty Pants Dance, you will see a video of a little girl, less than two years old, who knows her U.S. geography. She is having so much fun playing this game with her daddy. I hope nobody tells her that it should be boring and difficult to do.
