Having a child is one of the most amazing experiences a couple can have. It’s a time when a family of 2 become a family of 3 and a whole new world begins to emerge where the roles of husband and wife now merge into those of mother and father as well. It’s also a time when those that have never had a child before need a bit of guidance so that they don’t have to learn by mistake, those things that others have already experienced and are now passing on to them.

Taking care of your new child of course requires dedication. If you’re a father, it requires being able to be flexible and pitch in wherever you can to assist. Often times our wives go the extra mile to do whatever is necessary to make sure our new family member is safe and sound, and it’s our obligation to do whatever we can as well since mummy is actively working hard for baby 24/7.

Do your best to research your child’s necessities.

There are many men that actually take the time to investigate baby products and make sure they are actually fit for our children, but as men, we also have a tendency at times to be not so “scientific” about things we consider to be “non-scientific”. One of those things that requires our investigative abilities and scientific eyes is to find the right prams and pushchairs for our children. Quality does matter.

When we first bring our child home, you’ll quickly find that one of the first things you’ll need is a car seat.

There are many stand alone models that will do the job for you, but it’s a much wiser investment to look into the available prams and travel systems. They’re designed so that a base unit sits in the car and the carry-cot simply snaps in to it securely. Once you’ve arrived at your destination, detach the carry-cot from the base unit, place it in the pram chassis and you’re on your way. There are some manufacturers that have been around over a hundred years that make beautiful prams and pushchairs, and of course having been around so long, you can trust that thei quality is excellent. What’s also nice about many of them is that they double as pushchairs so that when your baby reaches his or her later stages in life, you simply turn the pram around in the chassis and you have your pushchair, ready to go. Nothing extra to purchase.

Look for prams that at least have some basic features to make sure you’re getting one that is top notch. Make sure it has a detachable liner and mattress that can be washed. Adjustable height handles are a nice feature as well because when the wife uses the pushchair, she may need a lower level. Ventilated rain covers and included changing bags are great features that and many prams have shopping baskets that are included underneath as well.

Again, whichever you select, make sure that the brand has a reputable name. Quality and safety often times go hand in hand, and you of course protecting your wife, and your newborn child are on the top criteria on your family’s safety list.
