Because a survey from leading gift and gadget e-tailer iwantoneofthose.com has shown that there’s more to our mums than meets the eye. Interesting stats from over 4,300 IWOOT customers reveal the celeb-snogging, protest-marching and more that went on long before you were around…
According to those who took part in the How Well Do You Know Your Mum? survey on iwantoneofthose, a staggering 16% of mums have kissed someone famous – are you sure yours didn’t have a bit of a smooch with Tom Jones or David Essex back in the day (go and ask, you might be shocked)? And while you think mum’s the kind of mild mannered lady who’d sooner make Gordon Brown a nice cup of tea than challenge him on his fiscal policy, 15% of those surveyed said that their mums had been on a protest march in their youth. Didn’t think she was the political type? Maybe you should think again.
The survey challenges us to show how well we really know the person who became ‘Mum’. It seems that more than 1 in four of us don’t know her favourite film or her favourite album, while a huge 36% haven’t a clue what their mum’s best-loved book is – so, although you’re sure that your best mate is a sucker for Titanic, do you know whether your mum prefers Pretty Woman or Top Gun? The survey also revealed our mums’ former identities as New Romantics (9%), Teddy Girls (7%), Hippies (a whopping 17%) and even Punks (2%)…
