How to Help Your Kid Eat Better
toys
Toddlers are known for being picky eaters. Feeding them is often stressful, because they won’t eat no matter what you do – even when you plead or even when you get angry at them.
This is a concern because kids need to get all the nutrients that they can get, and they can’t have this if they are not eating; or if all they ever eat is chicken fingers. For parents who needs help feeding their child, here are some tips for you.
TRY DIFFERENT KINDS OF FOOD
Keep your child interested by feeding him different kinds of food. Having oatmeal everyday for breakfast can be a little boring, so you might want to feed him pancakes next time instead. Trying different tastes and textures is very interesting for curious kids, so learn new recipes to try.
BE A LITTLE CREATIVE
Kids love playing, and anything that involves playing is great in their book. Having this in mind, make meal time fun too! Instead of serving potatoes and turkey sandwich on a plate, use some ketchup to draw around the sandwich and turn it into a house. You can even arrange the potatoes so it becomes the garden. Just use a little imagination, and I’m sure you can make meal time fun for your child.
KEEP DISTRACTIONS AWAY
Even the smallest things can distract children, especially while eating. You can help him focus on the food by keeping distractions away such as turning the TV off or not allowing him to bring toys to the table. It’s also good to eat together as a family, as seeing adults eat will encourage him to do the same.
KEEP REGULAR MEAL TIMES
Feeding your child at the same time everyday keeps him from having snacks in between meals which may ruin his appetite when it’s time to eat.
