8 Things Every New Mum Shouldn’t Leave the House Without
baby

How many new mums find that once they leave the house, they’ve left something important behind? Babies require so many things, that when you’re planning on leaving the house for a few hours, it’s almost like you’re going on holiday for four. Just to get yourself and your child loaded in the car can be a drama in itself. You need the stroller, the nappy bag, spare clothes, change mat, food, and don’t forget the toys. When you are suffering from major sleep deprivation, sometimes it’s great to have the obvious things you need spelt out!
1. Nappies: All babies need lots of them, so make sure you have a few and also add one more than you think you’ll need.
2. Wipes: What would mothers do without baby wipes? Perfect for the emergency spill or clean up.
3. A change of clothes: This is absolutely necessary. Who wants to be out shopping with their baby when they have just been sick down the front of their clothes or have just succumbed to diarrhea?
4. Nappy bags: These are great for bagging up those smelly clothes or even for those dirty smelly nappies.
5. A muslin: This can be used to clean up sick or even for discreet breastfeeding.
6. baby food: If you are using bottles, make sure you’ve packed enough formula or little snacks if your baby’s on solids. For those that are still breastfeeding, make sure you pack some extra breast pads as public leaks can be quite embarrassing.
7. Child Rain cover: Have you noticed how it suddenly rains when you leave home? Always have one spare in the boot of your car, just in case.
8. Toys: You may only be popping into your local post office, but if you find yourself in a long queue and your baby’s bottom lip starts to wobble, you’re prepared.
When it comes to leaving the house, make sure you give yourself plenty of time. Babies have a delightful habit of producing the biggest and messiest, clothes running poo just as you open the front door.
